Why take a fish oil supplement?
Fish oil is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Your body can produce some of these from the essential fatty acid ALA which is present in comparatively higher amounts in the diet, however, the conversion rate can be low and varies from person to person.
How does it work?
DHA is found in high amounts in the grey matter in the brain, and the retina of the eye. It is widely recognised that DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA, provided in two capsules of Hi-Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil. An intake of 250mg of DHA per day also contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
EPA plays a significant role in heart health. EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart and the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA and DHA.
